Ann Davison. BEd, IBCLC.

Ann Davison of Babyways

I qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2007 and am a member of Lactation Consultants of Great Britain and the International Lactation Consultants Association. I have been a breastfeeding counsellor with La Leche League since 2001 and take calls on the national helpline, lead monthly meetings of the local group and support other mothers as they go through their training and accreditation to become breastfeeding counsellors.

As a business trainer and trained teacher I enjoy the breastfeeding training we do. I love working with a new group of mothers as they set out on their journey to become breastfeeding supporters. Seeing them learn more about breastfeeding and passing on their knowledge and enthusiasm as they help other mums in their community is very satisfying. My husband and I have two boys who were breastfed.

Carolyn Markham – Breastfeeding Specialist

Carolyn Markham of Baby Ways

Over the last 7 years I have supported hundreds of mothers (and fathers) through the Northampton Branch of the NCT at post natal groups, breastfeeding classes and lately talking about weaning from a baby led perspective. I am also a La Leche League Breastfeeding counsellor and like Ann run the busy local group and take calls, on the La Leche League National Helpline. I am passionate about breastfeeding and a mother’s right to have all the information and support she needs to feed her baby the way that is right for her. This year, as every year, I have attended conferences and workshops, with international experts in the field of lactation and breastfeeding. Because of my commitment to the families I work with it is essential to me to keep my breastfeeding skills, knowledge and practice up to date.

I have sat on a number of National Institute of Clinical Excellence guideline development groups. I enjoy working in partnership with other colleagues looking at evidence, discussing and developing policies, protocols and guidelines which benefit mothers and babies. I am also mother to three breastfed children.

Ann and Carolyn have been running the Northampton Baby Cafe since setting it up in 2004.
The Northampton Baby Cafe is a breastfeeding drop in, which runs every Friday in Northampton town centre. In a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere mothers can meet other breastfeeding mothers and speak to one of the breastfeeding specialists about any concerns or questions she may have.
